Industrial history

The name of this collection takes its inspiration from an abandoned coal mining complex outside the Belgian city of Genk. Recently converted into a modern cultural centre, the site is now famous for its innovative creativity that combines history and tradition with contemporary style and design.
This project is expressed through keywords such as combination, regeneration, art, culture and designas the product is a new expression of a material whose surface reveals a powerful bond between innovation, interaction and architecture. When the bricks, concrete and metals in these abandoned locations are lit up they reveal flaws and colours that evoke distinctively original atmospheres.

SICILY

Culture contamination

Sicily is inspired by the sandstone that is found all over the island of Sicily. It is a sedimentary limestone that is particularly soft, averagely porous and features a variety of different colours ranging from white to pale yellow.
This type of stone has been widely used in a number of Sicilian towns that are world famous for their architectural masterpieces, such as Siracusa, Noto and Modica.
With this new ceramic project Imola pays tribute to the intense and unmistakeable character of Sicily, a unique island in which a savage and instinctive relationship with nature meets thousands of years of richly layered history and hybrid cultures

Contemporary personality above the lines

Update has been designed to allow you to lose yourself in the depth of a material which has been masterfully layered over centuries. The technology has allowed us to create a full-body ceramic surface that perfectly reconstructs stone and its irregular marks created by slowly sedimented layers. The finish seems to have been sculptured over time. An authentic stone rich in details, light and shade and fascinating dissolving colours. Update is available in a versatile range of colours, that range from lighter shades to darker and deeper colours.

X-ROCK

Dynamic power

And it is the dynamic force of diagonals that has given rise to X-Rock. X underlines the innovative nature of the collection. Rock indicates its origin: rock, stone. This is the first stone design where what you see is not what you get. The surface appears to be angular, but in reality it is soft. It seems to be a solid colour, but that is not the case. It looks like it doesn’t reflect, but if you walk on it, everything changes. Therefore, X-Rock is inspired by the stone, re-interpreting it in an unconventional way.
